Maryland Works seeks to enhance workforce development within Maryland in a number of ways. One of those ways is to participate in advocacy and public relations activities. Through our involvement in advocating in and monitoring the state governmental process, we will work to encourage the responsiveness of public policy to the employment needs of people with barriers to employment.
Through our advocacy and public relations efforts, Maryland Works provides our members with the following:
current information on pertinent Maryland state legislation
current information regarding state agencies' regulatory actions (i.e. DORS, DDA, MHA, DHR, DLLR, DBED, etc.)
education of Maryland legislators to the employment needs of people with barriers to employment
action alerts to inform members of critical issues and the need for citizen involvment
public relations and public education through media and information referral
networking opportunities with legislators through grassroots action and events such as the Annual Legislative Briefing and Luncheon.
